Character History: Wookiepedia Link

Personality:
Despite being a robotic being, C-3PO has quite a bit of personality, and can seem even more emotional than some humans; throughout decades of operation, he has developed a fussy and worry-prone personality. He worries constantly (and loudly) about the safety of himself and his companions, and is prone to being melodramatic about the level of danger in any given situation. He does not understand why so many people seem so eager to place themselves in peril, and often attempts to "help them" by calculating the odds of surviving said predicaments and telling anyone who will listen. He is rather cowardly, and is usually the first to suggest fleeing or surrender when faced with anything that is even the least bit frightening.

As C-3PO was designed with protocol as his primary function, he is very proper and polite (if a bit uptight) in low-stress situations, and strives to be of whatever help he can. His quirkiness shows through when he is agitated by mistreatment, ranging from expressions of exasperation and indignation to the occasional barb of sarcasm (though this snark is usually only seen with interacting with other droids or computers). Despite being designed as a social aid, 3PO still seems to excel at making interactions awkward. He can be very literal-minded at times, and may the mistake sarcastic comments of others as genuine. He often does not pick up on non-verbal cues, tends to hang around where he isn't wanted, and has on multiple occasions obliviously barged in on people who were hoping for some privacy.

While the cowardly droid may not be considered heroic, he can be very thoughtful, loyal, and even loving, making up for the more annoying aspect of his personality. He shows genuine distress when a companion is seriously injured, and will fret and persitantly pester physicians and/or mechanics on the status of such companions during their recovery. His master, Luke Skywalker, has described him as being loyal to his final nut and bolt, and it is true that C-3PO would remain at a friend's side until the end of his operating days.

Powers/Abilities:
As a droid, 3PO lacks many of the vulnerabilities of organic creatures. He does not need to eat, drink, or breathe, and is not effected by biological ailments such as viruses or infections. Though he does not require sleep, he is able to power down for set intervals to prolong his battery life. (He is able to operate for up to 200 hours after a full charge to his batteries.) His metal body is not quite a flexible as a human's, and his stabilization software and equipment is out-of-date by several decades, so he can be physically uncoordinated and clumsy. His body requires regular maintainenance and cleaning, as dirt, sand, dust, etc. gets into his joints (though he is at least built to be resistant to rusting).
3PO's biggest advantages come from his AA-1 VerboBrain and TranLang III communications module. With 7 petahertz (7,000,000 GHz) of processing power, he can perform complex calculations far faster than a typical human, is fluent in over 6 million forms of communication, and can quickly learn new languages just by listening to samples of it.

Possessions: Droid Counterpart (See Below)

Droid Counterpart: R2-D2
(Acting as C-3PO's "pet")
R2-D2 is an "astromech droid", which is a type of small (3' tall) robot designed to act as a starship mechanic, copilot, and navigator. Many astromechs (including R2-D2) are also typically good at interfacing and working with a variety of computers, and often perform as capable "slicers" (hackers).

R2-D2 has received many miscellaneous upgrades over his 35 years of existence, and thus has gone somewhat beyond the typical astromech to become something of a robotic bag of tricks. His current working features include: an Intellellex IV computer (powerful computer that can quickly find the solution to complex math, physics, and engineering problems), high-end sensors (full-spectrum transceiver, maneuverable video sensor, electromagnetic, heat, motion, and life form indicators), a retractable telescopic camera, enviromental compensators (protects his inner workings when submerged in water, sand, etc.), two holographic projectors /recorders/cameras, two basic manipulator arms, an extendable fine manipulator arm, an electric arc welder, a "shock arm" (a powerful taser for self-defense), a circular saw, a cable gun, a "SCOMP link" (device for connecting to a wide variety of computers), a concealed cargo compartment, a modified flare launcher (designed to launch emergency flares, but also able to launch other small objects it is loaded with {such as a lightsaber}), a water pump, a fire extinguisher, a lubricant sprayer, electromagnetic feet (for sticking to metal spaceship hulls), a retractable third foot (for extra speed and balance when needed), all-terrain drive treads, and a built-in music player.

For all his functions and gadgets, R2 has a number of drawbacks. He is incapable of speaking in the traditional sense; instead, he able to emit a series of beeps and whistles which are for the most part only understandable by an interpreter droid (such as C-3PO). R2 is not humanoid, which often means it is difficult or impossible for him to get certain places or operate certain machines designed with only a human in mind. He can move at a decent speed on a smooth terrain, but rough terrain slows him down (he must resort to waddling and very small hops), and the rockiest terrains are impassable for him. (R2 has a pair of Brooks Propulsion rocket boosters built in specifically for circumventing these sorts of terrain obstacles. However, they have been broken for over ten years, with nowhere to get replacement parts.)

R2's greatest strength likely lies in his personality. While all R2 astromechs are known for being "spunky", R2 is exceptionally brave and headstrong. He is unfailingly loyal to his friends, and is not afraid to risk himself to protect others. It can be inferred that he also has a sense of humor, as he often seems to tease C-3PO (eliciting very indignant responses from the protocol droid.)

Arrival:
Ship Arrival. My understanding is that droids wake up in a cargo container instead of a stasis pod?
